“Some great people who have gone trekking with me have the following to say!”

Julya Azura: 2023-02-14

Highly recommend T.A.N for your trekking experience in Nepal. Communication was excellent and everything went smoothly – thanks to the our amazing coordinator, Nawaraj. Our guide, Super Sherpa Dorjee, was informative, patient and attentive to our needs. We even had a wonderful time with our porters, Pemba and Mergh. Truly a once in a lifetime experience. LOVE LOVE LOVE our guide and porters! OOOOOH PEMBA!!!

Climbing to EBC was an achievement of a lifetime made possible by Trek Around Nepal. Newaraj ensured we were safely picked up from Kathmandu international airport and to our accommodations.

Excellence service. They took care of us from start to finish. Altered the trekking route to satisfy our demands????????????. Good pricing and they always get the best deal for us for transport and accommodation. Recommended

Trek Around Nepal provided an outstanding service for us as we trekked EBC and Gokyo in September. Both in our 60s, neither of us have trekked at altitude or outside New Zealand/Australia before, and travelling in the shoulder season posed additional risks. Nawaraj was absolutely wonderful, and provided a personalised service far greater than expected – ensuring things like transfers, alterations to airline bookings, itinerary changes etc went smoothly. He also gave excellent advice on other activities we could do after the main trek (Pokhara was a superb idea!). Nirba was a guide of the highest quality on the trek itself. He was personable, flexible, knowledgeable, had an excellent sense of humour, and ‘understood us’ – he had our full confidence. We learnt so much from him and he enhanced the value of our trip immeasurably. We never felt under any pressure from him, and he encouraged us, and showed and taught us things it would be hard to gain in any other way. He was sensitive to the physical and cross-cultural challenges we faced, but was also able to encourage us to do things we may not have done otherwise. We are enormously grateful. Balaram was a great porter also, and we struck up a great relationship with him despite the language barrier. If I was to make a list of everything I would have wanted from a guiding company before we went to Nepal, Trek Around Nepal not only met all of these but exceeded them. I could not recommend this company more highly.

I had a wonderful hiking experience with Trek Around Nepal. My guide Tenzi was enthusiastic and friendly, very knowledgeable and helpful as we hiked to Mardi Himal Basecamp. Couldn’t recommend this company enough!

Glad to be back trekking in Nepal with Narayan and Trek Around Nepal!

Cj Johnson: 2018-01-24

We had the experience of a lifetime during our recent 3 week trek through the Annapurna region. Narayan was a tremendous resource to our group-he answered numerous inquiries in a timely manner, and he connected us to the perfect Ambassadors to Nepal, our guide and porters Aman Singh, Bude and Ramash . Every day, we reflected in amazement over our experiences and asked ourselves-“This was the best day *ever*…it doesn’t get any better than today. The next day continued to surpass the previous day’s experiences. We asked for an “off the beaten path” experience and Aman brought us to remote villages where we did not see any other tourists for days. We slept in the homes of the villagers, danced, sang, and enjoyed the local version of moonshine every night. We learned how to prepare traditional Nepali food, sing traditional songs, learn about the flora and fauna, how to speak Nepalese, and so much more. Narayan’s North Star hotel was comfortable , clean, and a warm welcome before and after our trek. Thanks to Trek Around Nepal for helping to organize the best trip ever.

We just had a wonderful trek to Gokyo Ri with Trek around Nepal. It was beautiful and very nice to have Narayan and our guide Dorjee handle all the logistics for us. The day we were supposed to fly to Lukla there was fog and the planes could not land but Narayan made it happen and got us on a helicopter! They were also very responsive with emails and working around our changing plans. Dorjee, our guide, was excellent and had interesting things to tell us on the trek about the wildlife/mountains/culture. He set us up every night with comfortable arrangements and great food. We really were impressed with Trek around Nepal and are already thinking about our next trek with them.

John Graham : 2017-12-08
We had a wonderful time trekking from Lukla to Tengboche and back. Bhakta was a great guide, speaks fluent English, and knows the area and people well. Views of the mountain peaks in the morning from Tengboche were breathtaking.

top notch, personal service…outstanding people to work with, very knowlegeable family run business..would recommend contacting if considering trekking in Nepal

Natasha Furness : 2017-10-10
We had a fabulous time with Trek Around Nepal on the Annapurna Circuit.
Firstly Narayan was incredibly attentive to our emails – prompt in responding to multiple questions & adapting the itinerary to meet our needs. Also this was the only company that offered us side trips to Tilicho Lake & Poon Hill which if you have the time I would definitely recommend.
But most importantly our guide Dorjee Sherpa and porter were incredible. Dorjee always had a smile on his face, always encouraging us & always there by our side…which was different to many guides we saw on the circuit. His English was very good which meant we could get a bit of insight into life as a guide too rather than just discourse on the route that day. The hotels & restaurants that he selected were overall good quality too. And our porter was Superman in our opinion charging up hills as if he had a feather on his back…which our bag certainly wasn’t.
Overall superb service & I would definitely book with Trek Around Nepal again!

Our goal was to do 2-3 treks experiencing both the Khumbu and Annapurna regions. From our first email, I found Narayan to be both helpful and knowledgable. The element that set Narayan apart from guide services we had used in the past was his sincere intent to arrange trips that provided the experience we wanted versus a pre-packaged plan.

For our mountain treks, we booked the EBC-Gokyo Lakes trek (16d) and the Mardi HImal trek (7d). In both cases the treks were outstanding. Our guide Raju was by far the best guide we have ever had with many years of trekking experience. Not only does Raju possess a wealth of knowledge about the regions in which we were hiking, more importantly he understands that proper acclimatization is the key to success when trekking in this part of the world. From the onset our pace was slow and steady resulting in our ability to successfully acclimatize without the need for medication.

In addition to our mountain treks, we wanted to experience Chitwan National Park and some warm weather. We spoke with Narayan about our thoughts and while he did not specifically offer guide services in the Chitwan area, he had contacts that would be able to provide the custom itinerary (several days of jungle trekking vs. jeep touring) we were looking for. Again, the arrangements Narayan made surpassed all of our expectations. The accommodations were wonderful, our lead guide was great and his ability to spot both birds and animals was unbelievable.

In summary, we cannot recommend Narayan and Trek Around Nepal highly enough. He and his team did everything possible to make our treks and our stay in Nepal a wonderful experience. Having never been to Nepal, we were coming in with more questions than answers from purchasing gear, best methods of travel, which treks to experience, etc. Narayan surpassed all expectations, having us picked up at the KTM airport when we landed, meeting us in Thamel and pointing out reputable shops for purchasing gear, arranging all of our flights, etc. He is a great guy and goes well beyond the call of duty to satisfy his clients. He is a person that truly enjoys what he is doing and it is readily apparent.

My husband and I with our teenage boys trekked the Annapurna Sanctuary with Trek around Nepal. We found a recommendation for Narayan and his company in the book, The longest way home. The book was a tremendous resource but the best advice was to use a local company for our trek. Narayan organized everything, was reliable and looked after our family in Kathmandu, Pokhara and up on the trek. It was a family affair with his brother coming on the trek as one of the porters. They treated us like family and were honest, trustworthy and made our holiday safe and memorable. A big shout out to our guide Raj who was the best, with so much support and good fun. The trek was tailored for us and the guest houses they booked were first rate, and they were very generous with the food and arrangements. My advice is book local with a trekking company, you will save a lot of money but get better and personalized treatment on your trek. We recommend trek around Nepal.

Allison Kumnick: 2017-05-07

I had a fantastic trekking experience with Trek Around Nepal. Narayan always replied to my emails and assured me everything was taken care of for my trek. Both he and my guide met me in my hotel lobby before leaving, which allowed me to ask questions and buy all the gear I needed. My guide was SO helpful and caring and kind to me. He made sure I was full and feeling well all the time. I was most impressed, however, with the company’s ability to handle my spontaneous decisions to change my plans. Three days in, I decided to summit Island Peak. This probably messed up all their plans and schedules, but they made it happen for me. They even got me on a last minute flight to Chitwan the morning I returned from Lukla. Finally, as a solo female traveller, some of the men I met in Nepal were a little abrasive and made me uncomfortable. Absolutely nobody associated with Trek Around Nepal made me uncomfortable in any way. I could not give a stronger recommendation for this company!!

Jannah Hair: 2017-04-18

So, I know nothing about Nepal, but Narayan was very patience with all of my questions. I didn’t know what trek to do, he came up with some suggestions. After doing a bit of research, I decided that I wanted to try the ABC. And I was a bit skeptical about paying online so Narayan was totally cool with me paying him when I get to Nepal.

Everything was planned ahead for me. His brother, Nawar, helped me out when I was in Kathmandu. Met with my awesome guide, Thakur, in Pokhara. Managed to meet with the man himself (Narayan), such a warm caring person. He suggested that I go for the Mardi Himal trek instead because of my short time there. Which I agreed to.

I would like to commend my guide now. His name is Thakur. He was the best guide cum porter that I could ever asked for. He took care of me, he was very patience, and he encouraged me throughout my whole trip! I couldn’t have done it without his support. He made sure that I was happy during the trip. Though I did not complete my trek to Mardi Himal, I was very satisfied with the whole trekking experience. Met with some great locals who will treat you like a family. After the trip, Thakur spent his time ensuring that I had a great moment in Pokhara, something which he is not obliged to but he did it anyway. Thank you, Thakur!

I totally recommend Trek Around Nepal for those looking into trying something new. They are the best! And I myself will definitely find them again if I ever coming back to this beautiful place.

Juerg & Barbara: 2017-05-21

We are very happy with the way Trek Around Nepal organized our trip. The owner of the company, Narayan, personally came to Kathmandu to our hotel to make sure everything was in order.

He came again the following morning with our guide, and we were ready to start our trip. Both our guide and our porter were very committed, helpful, friendly and fun to be with. They always accommodated our wishes. We enjoyed traveling with them.

We did the Annapurna circuit, and it was just wonderful. We always stayed in nice lodges and stopped at good restaurants. We stayed at the Northstar Guest House after the trekking. It is owned by the same company and provides nice, spacious and clean rooms at a very reasonable rate.

We travelled to Lumbini after the Trekking and Narayan organized bus and plane tickets and even came to the bus station with us to make sure we got on the right bus and had our reserved seats.

We highly recommend Trek Around Nepal. One is very well cared for and the prices are affordable.

A big thanks to Trek Around Nepal for organizing the trip to Everest Base Camp.

They go far beyond professionalism and honesty. In a friendly and fraternal way, they provide all the necessary explanations and help in practice to solve all problems or eventualities. I had all the necessary support before, during and after the trekking to enjoy this unique experience. You are much more than a customer, but a friend who they receive with great hospitality and care.

I would like to highly recommend the Trek Around Nepal services and also send my heartfelt gratitude to my friends in Nepal.

Josh: 2017-02-02

Our group went on the everest base camp trek and had a great time!

Our guide was Bishnu Tamang and he was the man! Super kind, really helpful, and more than willing to answer any of our questions about the hike or Nepali culture. He was also super accommodating of our travel schedule and was able to keep us going at a good pace. We even managed to get down the mountain is 2 days!

I would 100% recommend Bishnu, Narayan, and Trek Around Nepal to any of my friends looking to go on a trek.

Val Bogdanov: 2016-12-09

In November-December 2016 my wife and I did the “Three Passes’ trek with Narayan’s guide Bishnu and porter Dackman. They were great. They were really professional, whilst at the same time friendly and responsive. Especially Bishnu – he was a very nice guy, but he also knew his stuff well- he knew all the villages and tracks, all the pitfalls along the way, he always had a good feel of how long it would take to get to a specific place. They both were really helpful along the way, especially when we struggled on the passes.
We probably would not have finished the trek if it was not for them. I did not meet with Narayan, but met with Narayan’s brother – Nowaraj. He was also a very nice guy, as well as being helpful and professional. I really highly recommend the agency and these guys to anyone.

Michael Childs: 2016-12-07

A big thanks to Narayan for organising our trip to EBC. It was an epic experience, one of our best trips ever. It was planned very well but also had the flexible to change the itinerary when we needed to.

Bhim, our guide, was very knowledgeable, helpful and put our safety first at all times. We would highly recommend him to anyone wanting to trek Nepal.

We definitely would come back to Nepal and use Trek Around Nepal again to see more of what this country has to offer.

Kind regards

Michael and Tara

Virginia: 2016-10-17

I just came back from an amazing trek in the Everest Region!
At first i was a little hesitant to hire a guide on internet but Narayan replied to all my mails really quickly and in a professional manner. Once arrived in Kathmandu, I meet my guide Bhakta: a friendly and professional young man whom made sure I enjoyed my trip in every aspect! He took care of the food, my health, the lodges, the money…everything!!! I would 100% recommend Bhakta to anyone looking to have a serious guide take them trekking in Nepal! Contact trekking around nepal and ask for him!!!! You won’t regret it!!

Angela and Jens: 2016-10-16

We were fortunate to have found Trek Around Nepal. After a two week trek arranged through Narayan, we can’t even begin to express our gratitude for the amazing experience. Kind, generous, helpful, welcoming, professional and overall outstanding service. The team that trekked with us is now our family. These memories are permanently engraved in our hearts and it’s all thanks to Trek Around Nepal team. Don’t look elsewhere. This is the best trekking group in Nepal.

Aadhya and Robert: 2016-09-04

Aadhya and I walked the Annapurna circuit trek in the second half of September 2016. Long before we arrived in Nepal Narayan had organised our permits and TIMs, and had been in regular contact helping us to plan our trip. Narayan also picked us up from the airport free of charge and introduced us to our guide, Dorjee, two days before we started the trek. Finally, Narayan helped us organise our budget and obtain the currency we required for the trek (Nepali rupees).

The trek itself was brilliant. Aadhya and I could not have wished for a better guide than Dorjee. We had decided to arrange/pay for our own accommodation, but at each town Dorjee recommended nice, quiet places, and ensured that we got along well with the people who managed the accommodation. As a person Dorjee is fantastic. Respectful, knowledgeable and authoritative when required. Aadhya and I felt very secure with Dorjee as our guide and would seek him again if we return to Nepal.

Therefore to summarise, a fantastic agency that added a huge amount to our trek, and one which Aadhya and I would recommend without any reservations.

Petrina Shortt: 2016-4-02

We have just finished a wonderful trek to EBC with Narayan and our 2 lovely porters Meg and Ram.
From the moment I contacted Narayan to enquire about doing EBC he was quick to respond to all my questions in a kind and helpful manner.
He met us in Kathamdu and helped us to source the last few pieces of equipment for the trek.
Two of us have trekked in Nepal before, without a guide, and we all agree that having a knowledgable/trustworthy guide not only enhanced the overall experience, took the hassle of trying to find accommodation along the way, but more importantly he constantly monitored our reaction to the altitude.
Narayan set a walking pace that suited acclimatisation to altitude. He was compassionate and patient with us at all times. All talk of plans for the following day were met with the words “we’ll see”. This became a running joke throughout the trip! But on a serious front it meant that he would only plan the next leg into higher altitude after he had monitored how each of us was feeling.

Narayan was the perfect travel companion, at no stage did we feel crowded or awkward around him. He gave each of us our ‘space’, but was also friendly and social at all times. We had some great nights playing card games and sharing stories.
We would have no hesitation in recommending Trek Around Nepal to anyone and we wish Narayan all the best in the future.

We just did EBC with Narayan’s guide Bhakta and porter Sameer. Their friendliness, attention to detail, professionalism, value and advice were exceptional. We were in excellent hands from start to finish. They gave us a completely hassle free trek and tailored the trek to suit our needs. I cannot recommend Narayan, Bhakta and Sameer highly enough. Use them and all the proceeds from the trek stay in Nepal and help rebuild this beautiful country

Leslie and Asta: 2015-12-18

Looking for a way to help out after the earthquake, we wanted to inject some cash into the economy through an all-Nepalese trekking company. Then we found Narayan’s company through a travel blog and saw that in addition to a perfect fit with our plans, part of the money he collected also went to earthquake relief—win win! We communicated with Narayan, got prompt replies and detailed information, and ended up doing the EBC trek with his young brother Nowa as a guide. We found everything well-organized and Nowa was patient with the slow speed I moved at after straining a muscle the first day. But we plodded on and made it to Everest and back in the usual time frame and thoroughly enjoyed our trip of a lifetime. Also can’t say enough about our porter Norbu Sherpa—a joy to be around. Highly recommend this home-grown company!

 Michael L: 2015-11-22

A friend and I just completed 16 days of trekking in the Khumbu with Bhakta as our guide. He’s a great guy to be around, always smiling and high energy. Every place we stopped on our trek he would make friends and was always willing to help out other trekkers in need. There are a surprising number of inexperienced guides taking people up the mountain which is just asking for trouble. Bhakta has worked as a porter then guide in the mountains since he was a teenager so you can be sure your experience will be safe and successful. Feel free to email with any questions you have about my experience with Narayan and Bhakta: [email protected]

I had a great time with my guide Naw doing the Annapurna Base Camp trek. He was right on with his recommendations and we got wonderful views of the Annapurna range on the trek. Narayan’s entire family welcomed me in their guest house for several days while I was in Pokhara and even invited me to their childhood home to celebrate the festival. I had a wonderful time and felt like family.

Ken Detone: 2015-10-23

Narayan and his brother were fantastic. We were recently in Nepal and the country had a severe gas petrol shortage. Narayan was able to get us up to Pokhara by vehicle from our location near Bijur. No easy task given there was no gas.
We then treked a nice 2 day local trek up to Australia base and and Annapurna Eco lodge camp for a spectacular view of the Annapurna range. I recommend them highly.

Toby: 2015-07-06

A friend and I have just returned trekking for 8 days with Narayan, our amazing guide. We traversed the Dhampus, Lwang, Shiding, Australian Camp and Astam and the whole experience was just made amazing by the easy going and gentle nature of Narayan. He was happy to hear what we wanted to do and was very accommodating. His knowledge, interaction with the locals and the care that he took to ensure our safety in the monsoon period was unparalleled. Without a hint of doubt,we will highly recommend Narayan. Nepal is truly special and it was made amazing by Narayan.

Antoine: 2014-12-08

We just finished the Everest Base Camp trek with Bhakta, Narayans accomplice. He’s was amazing, made the whole experience better then it already was. His expertise and gentle nature capped it off.
We are now good mates and look forward to trekking again with him.

Dan: 2014-11-03

Hello!

Thank you so much for putting three fellow novice Trekkers at ease. We planned last minute, and found Narayan via a travel blog. With that recommendation, a legit website, and the fact that Narayan responded promptly and seemed to communicate well we felt comfortable using his services for an epic trip EBC. Additionally we didn’t want to pay in advance yet Naryaran allowed us to pay once we got to KAT. We were picked up by Naryaran and shuttled to our hotel which was helpful navigating busy KAT. Bhakta was set up as our guide and we got a porter for our larger bag. I was impressed by how well our guide knew the route, knew accommodations, and worked hard to address any issues. I highly recommend using his services whether you are looking for a full service or basic experience. Thanks again for an experience that I won’t forget.

David Ganz: 2014-10-01

Hi Narayan!

To readers, Narayan set up an excellent trek to EBC for me and two buddies in September 2014. The guide Bhakta was really cool and we felt that everything was well organized and done throughout the trip. Narayan also met us at the airport. Please email me at [email protected] if you want advice about Narayan and his crew.

Cheers,
David

Hannah: 2014-08-24

Narayan was a wonderful guide and I would highly recommend his services. He not only knew the routes and great places to stay, but he also taught us a lot about Nepal that we wouldn’t have learned had we not hired a guide. Thanks again and I wish you the best,

Hannah W.

Patrick Schwartz: 2014-08-12

Narayan was a great guide! It may appear strange at first why a guide is a good idea, but he really knows the people, guesthouses, food, weather, flights, etc. Also, he is a good guy, easygoing, and able to adapt to your needs as a trekker. I highly recommend his services!

I would do it all again in a heartbeat,
Patrick

Heitho: 2014-04-15

Hi Narayan – What an amazing country – we had a wonderful time – and definitely plan on coming back for another guided trek! The highlight of our visit was the four-day trek to Ghorepani. Thank you for your sensitivity and forethought in making sure that we were safe, warm, and fed throughout our time together.

We so much appreciated your insights on Nepalese culture and geographical wonders. You made this trip unforgettable. Additionally, your help with lost luggage, extra touring in Pokhara, and transportation to and from the airport were extras that we did not expect or plan for. Your flexibility and support with so many details made – what could have been a stressful couple of days – a delightful extension to our week-long visit. We would and will recommend your guiding company to friends and relatives. Looking forward to many return trips.

Thank you so much! Heitho and Scott

Leslie Struxness: 2014-03-29

Well, I have just returned from the trip of a lifetime. I met Narayan through friends of a NGO and set up a trek to Everest Base Camp through email. I also did some trekking w/Narayan in the Annapurna region.

In Nepal weather, flight cancellations, etc can disrupt or alter plans.  Every time Narayan worked his magic to make the necessary changes. He is well connected, innovative and honest.

For the most part I was travelling solo and always felt my safety and health were attended to equally as well. His website accurately describes the treks and anticipated accommodations/amenities. His prices are very reasonable I would recommend Narayan w/o reservation and plan to trek w/him again in the future

Mandy Liow: 2013-11-25

I was being introduced to Narayan by Dave from The Longest Way Home. In spite of the last minute approach, he still made time for me and has been prompt on our email communication. For that, I really appreciate.

I was travelling alone thus a trustworthy trekking guide is very crucial and Narayan has been well above the expectation. Not only does he know his stuff well, he has been very sensible and attentive. I really spent a great time trekking with him.

He also helped me in arranging paragliding, domestic air ticket and accommodation in Pokhara & Kathmandu, my safety was well taken care of during the 9 days strike in Nepal due to election.

PS: I didn’t call your name right all these time, I always called you ‘Na-rain’ even though the hotel manager in Pokhara tried to correct me 🙂

Chris H: 2013-05-17

Hi Narayan,

Thanks for an incredible 3 weeks in Nepal! From pickup at the airport on day one, navigating the extremely busy KTM to lukla domestic flight, the unbelievably epic journey to EBC and then recommending I spend the rest of my trip in Pokhara rather than Kathmandu, you made this experience a truly memorable one. The only bad thing about this trip is that I am now hooked on this place and will certainly be using your services once again. OK, I get a few weeks off and then its time to start planning then Annapurna Circuit Trek! Thanks my friend! You did a first rate job and adapted this trip to my abilities and tastes perfectly… I am so positive about this, I will include my email for any recommendations its: [email protected]

Thanks Again!!

Chris in Encinitas, California.

Jeremy and Angie: 2014-04-16

We trekked with Narayan in November 2013 on the Everest Base Camp circuit (11 days) and had an amazing time! Our tour was run quite well and we’re really glad we did the full package with porter, Narayan as our guide, and all of our accommodation and food covered. It ended up breaking even cost-wise with all of our friends we met along the way who went paying their own way or with porter-guides from other companies.

Coming from two people who have never trekked before, have only done day hikes, and were genuinely terrified of the trek before doing it, going with Narayan made a significant difference in helping us reach Base Camp without issues! Looking forward to coming back and doing Annapurna in the near future!

Jan Fousek: 2013-04-05

Me and my 3 friends took the Annapurna round trek in March 2013.

Even though Narayan has heard about none of us before, he trusted us enough and just over the e-mail communication proposed and prepared the whole trek based on our expectations gained from the documents and internet.

He took care of us since the first day, picked us up at the airport with his friend and our second guide Preim. As some of the previous fellow contributers on this discussion mentioned, we also had almost everyday during the trip cookies whenever we wanted and especially carefully cut and served pieces of apple and other fruit after each dinner. They didn´t have to do it for us but still they did. Also the accomodation was always the best available quality at the place of being, almost everyday hot shower if the altitude allowed such luxury .

At the end of our stay we moved to Pokhara for last 2 days without having paid any guiding services anymore, but Narayan was there for us even these days and helped us with everything we needed including taking us to the airport – for free.

Narayan is the clear choice when you are looking for a great and highly experienced guide and I will always recommend him to my friends and business partners who want to go to Nepal.

THANK YOU, NARAYAN AND PREIM!

Wendy Robinson: 2013-03-21

I have travelled with Narayan twice. He has worked as the logistics field manager for Global Nutrition Empowerment, an American NGO doing a scientific study in Nepal on providing prenatal vitamins to women of child-bearing age. I have also taken a six-day hike around the hill country near Pokhara. Narayan is amazing – he has everything under control, even when the unexpected occurs. He considers the hiking abilities of the group and arranges accommodations in wonderful small tea houses. I am very control-oriented and I feel totally comfortable leaving everything up to Narayan while I am in Nepal. He is completely reliable – if he says he will be somewhere at a particular time or will do something, it is done. I consider him a friend and also a consummate professional. I recommend him without reservation.

Farah Khalid: 2012-06

We did the mardi himal trek with Narayan in May 2012.
Narayan is an experienced guide with great contacts. We were very well taken care of during our trek. The Mardi Himal has very basic accommodations. Despite this Narayan ensured that we had hot water for baths and fruits and chocs for dessert following every meal
He also took care of our travel arrangements to, and accommodation in Kathmandu.
Because of his experience and contacts we were able to continue our hike without much hassle despite the almost daily call for bandh by the various political parties in Nepal.
In short Narayan is a guide who really understands his clients and if I ever go back for another hiking holiday, I will certainly look for him to be our guide.

Koen: 2012-05-04

Hi Narayan,

Thank you very much for the great 4 days trek!

Shift Abdul Ghani: 2012-04-12

I was supposed to do an Everest trek with Fir & Shahir (previous entries) on 19th March 2012. But to our dismay, our airline (Silkair) screwed up. Our luggages were left behind in Singapore, & will only arrive in Kathmandu the next day. We were helpless, stressed, & in total disarray. All the months of planning had gone to waste. What was supposed to be a dream vacation was turning into a nightmare. Our flight to Lukala was cancelled. Our dream to see Everest was gone.

That’s when Narayan weaved his magic wand. He came up with a couple of alternatives, suggestions & advices to make up for our disappointment. After a brief discussion, we decided to go on the Mardi Himal trek, a lesser known route that cuts into the very heart of the Annapurnas.

On 20th March 2012, we started our trek. It was the best decision we have ever made, all thanks to Narayan. He seemed to know what’s in our mind, what we were looking for. We were so close to the Annapurnas itself, the sight of it was mind-blowing!

Narayan did all the necessary arrangements in such a short space of time. Everything was planned to perfection. We were very well taken care of. Food & accommodation was never a problem. Safety was never compromised.

I am totally amazed & grateful for all the little things Narayan did for us. His experience & professionalism as a guide, together with his team of porters, was totally beyond our expectations. It felt as though we were trekking with a friend.

It was a wonderful first trip to Nepal for me & my friends. All thanks to Narayan. I will not hesitate to recommend him to anyone who wishes to engage a guide in Nepal. Thank you Narayan. You got an A in my book!

P.S. Did i mention that we were originally supposed to go on an Everest trek? Well, that didn’t happen. But guess what – Narayan booked us all on an early morning mountain flight in Kathmandu to see Everest – up close & personal.

Thank you Narayan. You’re the best!!!

My trek on 20/03/2012, could have never been fun, interesting & knowledgeable witout Narayan. He noes his way around like the back of his hands, he is funny, he is helpful, he takes care of our welfare, etc… He also design the tracking route to accomodate our physical means. In addition to Narayan expertise, he has 2 helpful potters to ensure our safety and welfare is well taken care off. This trip was an eye opener to me as this is my 1st trekking trip and i climb as high as 4200m. This will not be possible witout Narayan guidance. Thank You Narayan.. Looking foward to the next trek wit you!!!! 😀

Thumbsss arrrppp…Great job. All went as planned. He really take care of our welfare. He’s not only a great guide but has a good sense of humour and friend. Will definitely recommend him to anyone out there who wants to engage an independent guide for backpackers. Kudos. Hope to meet you again

Narayan is an excellent guide who cares for the welfare of his clients whilst on the trekking trip. He is one who is experience, gave good advices to my friends and I, shows care and concern as well as one who shows utmost professionalism. I certainly had an enjoyable time trekking to the Annapurna Base Camp with Narayan and I would certainly get him to be my guide again if I come back to trek the Everest Base Camp. Kudos Narayan!

Narayan is great.
He was our guide this September 2011.I still am in awe of his kindness, patience ,problem solving abilities.
He assigned the nicest porters to me and my group.
When encountering mossy slippery steps, or scary bridges he always knew to extent his comforting hand to make me feel capable and safe.
I enjoyed meeting his family and extended family.
The places we stayed in were great, clean and the food was above expectations.
Due to government regulations we could not start our intended program as planned.
Narayan took care of our changed plans.
I am not over doing these compliments. He and his supports are great. Oh if I just were 20 years younger, I would return in no time and use Narayan and his company without a doubt.

My fiance, his dad, and I trekked along the Everest Base Camp trek with Narayan as our guide. Narayan was really great. He was friendly and spoke good English. He took care of everything for us, so all we needed to do was focus on enjoying the gorgeous Himalayas! We learned a lot from Narayan and he helped us out with birding and animal-spotting.

Sadly, health issues held us back from making it to the Everest Base Camp. This could have really ruined the trip, but Narayan helped us out and made alternate travel plans for us in no time. We spent a lovely few days in Pokhara, recovering from the trek. It was really nice to meet his wife and children there.

Narayan is a great guide on the trail, and he is also really helpful with planning activities before and after a trek. He knows all about the interesting things to see and do in Nepal and he knows how to get you where you want to go!!

I would recommend Ni (Narayan) with absolute confidence.  My husband and I were fortunate to take the ABC trek last February with him.  It will be one of my most memorable holidays and I genuinely feel that Ni was a major contributor to that.  He speaks very good English for a start so we were quickly able to build up a rapport  and within a day it felt we were just trekking with a friend!  That said he was also very professional – always considering our safety and our abilities. He seemed to have the happy knack of picking the cleanest, friendliest and warmest lodges with the best food – not that it is a knack, but something he has learned over the many years as a guide in the area.

If you are considering using an independent guide, you could do no better than to employ Ni.  I can recommend him to you without reservation, I am confident that you would not be disapointed in your choice.

just as a footnote.  After we left Pokhara we travelled to a Safari Park by public bus.  To our dismay when we arrived we realised that we had left our camera with all our fantastic photos of ABC on one of the buses.  We phoned Ni and told him our sorry tale.  Ni went into action and from Pokhara he found out which bus company we had travelled with, from there he contacted the driver who was able to locate the camera on the floor where we had sat.  The next day he arranged for the camera to be taken back and left at the hotel for us to pick up at the end of the Safari.

We would highly recommend Narayan as a guide. He was fabulous. Narayan always took care of our needs with accommodation, food, rest stops, the entire planning of the day. We found the trek totally stress free.

Narayan was incredibly accommodating in meeting our wishes along the way. He always kept us informed of what our day would look like and if our plans needed to alter slightly.

Narayan is a very kind, funny and trustworthy person. His English is excellent, nothing was lost in translation.

Narayan teaches you a lot about the mountains and valleys. He is also able to educate about the customs and practices of the local Nepalese people, whilst being respectful to their privacy.

Again, we would highly recommend using Narayan as a guide.

I was recently privileged to be part of a group of 14 trekkers led by Narayan on a 3-week trip. He handled all logistics for trekking in the Annapurna region and then a flight to Jomsom for more trekking and sightseeing. He took such good care of us.

In addition to his trekking business he is active in projects to improve village dental care, to provide a home for orphan children, and to provide environmental education to schoolchildren.

Narayan is an outstanding guide and I enthusiastically recommend his services!

This is for viewers to Narayan Bhandari’s website.  To anyone considering a trek/trip in Nepal – Narayan took excellent care of me and others in our group for the 3.5 weeks we spent together.

Our group was comprised of people with different levels of travel/exposure in the developing world, which can present challenges for guide and group alike.

Narayan took care of all details, provided tons of useful information, and handled all that came up in an efficient and professional manner.  We did not have to sweat the details r worry about much besides our individual needs.

Narayan is a delightful, honest and morale person and easy to get along with.  I recommend him as a trek/trip guide with no reservations whatsoever and with only the highest regard. I can safely say, that the other 13 people in our group felt similarly.  Thank you Narayan for a great trip and for watching our backs, behinds and all else.

With great and sincere appreciation,

Jean Schumer (Corvallis OR)

Hello fellow trekker!!  Narayan and I have trekked 1/2 of the Annapurana circuit together, and this year I brought back 13 friends, and we hiked off the circuit into small villages in Kaski and Mustang districts.  Narayan worked his magic, organizing places to stay in villages which had never hosted trekkers before.  The food was nutritious and interesting, the accomodations clean and comfortable, and the village life amazaing.  While trekking we also distributed prenatal vitamins to 3000 local women at schools, health clinics and community centers.  All this was organized by Narayan and his friends.  On top of this, they manage to run a small orphanage, support eco-friendly trekking and encourage dental care!!  What a guy, and what a trip!!  You won’t find a better person or experience in Nepal.

I realized my e-mail didn’t appear in the guest book in case anyone wanted to contact me with a question: [email protected]

ps. I totally agree with Amy about Narayan always knowing the best places to stay and eat. He really understands western needs and sees to them. I also agree that he is just a great all around walking companion as well! Thanks Narayan!

Chris Vivier:2010-05-06

I traveled with Narayan for almost an entire month last July and he was a all around terrific guide. He was always friendly, smiling, thorough, insightful, prepared, informative and always attentive to our every need. I have been on numerous treks in the Himalaya and Narayan was the best guide I have had the pleasure of working with. I would strongly recommend his services with the utmost confidence and I would be happy to provide a more specific reference or answer questions if anyone wanted to e-mail me.

We absolutely loved our experience treking the Annapurna Trail with Narayan.  With so many years on the trail, Narayan knows the in-and-outs of every part of the journey.  No matter what, he knew the best places to stay, to eat, interesting cultural and natural aspects of the hike, and very important when you are walking so far, he knew exactly how long it was to the next rest stop!  He is so attentive; I felt taken care of but free to explore on our own every step of the way.  We never got altitude sickness, and I attribute that to Narayan.  He knew how fast we needed to walk; what to drink; how much to rest, really everything to keep us healthy.  Whenever anything came up out of the ordinary, Narayan handled it with ease.  He made our trek healthier, with little stress, and more fulfilling than it would have ever been without him.  He was also a great travel companion and a wonderful person to get to know.  I cannot thank him enough for such a positive experience.  If you book with Narayan, be assured you will have a wonderful time.  If you want to contact me directly with any questions, please don’t hesitate.  I believe my email is on the website.

Hi All,

I just got back from trekking the Gokyo Lakes trek in the Everest region today. Narayan was my guide so I felt I should quickly say a few words while I was checking out his website.

I had a fantastic time the past 8 days, and Narayan was always friendly and helpful towards me, as well as being very professional. At first i was a little hesitant to hire a guide, but i had a very positive experience from having Narayan as my guide. He made sure i enjoyed my trip completely, even to the very top of Gokyo Ri he climbed despite the fact we were freezing cold and so hungry! I would 100% recommend him to anyone looking to have a guide take them trekking in Nepal.

Some lovely fotos in the video here. I would be happy to send you some of us when we were there!

I really enjoyed my time in Nepal and would heartily recommend Narayan. He was kind, and new the area very well. We were not the party types and appreciated the fact he stayed clear of loud guest houses by our request.

Best wishes to you.

Hi Narayan!

It is great to see you on the internet at last.

I had a great time trekking with Narayan in January 2008. We did the Annapurna Circuit. I interviewed several guides at the time and Narayan came out on top, and I am glad I went with him. I met several others on the route who were not having such a nice experience with their own guides.

I wish you all the best Narayan

Dave
